Manufacturing of gear wheels in the Mälardalen region in Sweden is world leading and this is something that these four companies want to retain and even further develop and reinforce. The research will be made in collaboration with universities.

The three main tasks for the centre are:
- To offer the automotive industry education aimed for operators, technicians and experts within the area of drive line technology with focus on gear technology.
- To market the area of industrial engineering aimed for pupils at schools and universities.
- Initiate research projects which are strongly connected to drive line technology, especially to gear technology.
