LEAX celebrates 30 years today the 1st of February 2012
The 1st of February 1982, the two friends Lennart Berggren and Axel Seger founded the company LEAX Mekaniska in Köping, the city that is the cradle for cog and gear industry in Sweden. The name arose after the first two letters of their first names LE for Lennart and AX for Axel. The company has during 30 years grown from being two employees from the start to today with around 500 employees at six plants in three countries (three in Sweden, two in Latvia and one in Brazil) and on two continents. Along the way, a lot has happened whereof some major milestones have been the overseas establishments in Latvia and in Brazil.
- When I and Axel founded LEAX we felt that it was exciting with our own business. Our goal was primarily that we could live off our own company, says Lennart Berggren. Being able to look back on 30 years of development of LEAX makes us feel very proud and that we have proved that it is possible to create a big company, even if you start off empty-handed, says Lennart Berggren.

A change of generation was carried out around the millennium, and today the company is owned primarily by the four sons and senior executives of the group board.
- The internationalization of LEAX began ten years ago and is now more current than ever. With sales in 19 countries there are a lot of opportunities to continue to grow both in Sweden and abroad, says Roger Berggren, current President of LEAX Group.
- Our motto "The day we cease getting better is the day we stop being good" has been a strong guideline in our work to build LEAX as a group, says a proud Roger Berggren.
Year 2012 is a jubilee year in several ways as LEAX also celebrates that LEAX Quality turns 20 years old and that LEAX Falun turns 5 years. This will be celebrated with a big anniversary celebration and open house in May to be held for customers and employees in Sweden. Local celebrations will take place in Latvia and in Brazil.
